United Club Lounge New Orleans
Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport is a small airport in what is a fairly busy touristy city. This United Club Lounge is just one of 3 lounges here.
It is certainly one of the more pleasant United Club lounges to be found around the States. United flies 8 times per day from here to it’s Houston hub, followed by 3 daily to New York, couple daily to Chicago, Denver, Washington, San Francisco etc
Location & Access
Located in Concourse C at Gate C7, this is an unusual lounge that is under the main terminal so you need to get the elevator down !
The lounge is open daily between 4:00 a.m. – 7:15 p.m
7.15pm closure seems rather early but this is in line with United flight departures from the airport!
Eligibility of entry is as follows:
Class Of Service
- United Business (Polaris) Class
- United First To Canada
- Premium transcontinental flights ( LAX-New York Newark only )
- Star Alliance Carrier First Or Business Class
Star Alliance Gold Status
- Via United then must be flying same day international Star Alliance flight
- Via other Star carriers with same day Star Alliance carrier flight (note the difference here if you are Star Gold via another Carrier like Singapore/Turkish etc then you can access even if flying any domestic flight! )
- Both category above are permitted one guest as long as they are on same flight
United Club Membership
Customer with United Club membership including via MileagePlus Credit Card membership are eligible to use lounge with up-to 2 guests.
United Club advanced one-time passes can also be used.
United Club Lounge New Orleans Space
The lounge is not particularly big, though you will find several different zones carved out of it
From the elevator you walk into the “main” room ..
What I like about the design is you while it is open plan, you have what is a tiled corridor along the perimeter of the lounges and then individual spaces within are carpeted with a more cosy feel
There is a rather nice bar at one end of this, with a design scheme that mirrors other United Club lounges in the network..
For a small space, it is a big bar with over 10 stools running along it, where you can sit and enjoy a drink or chat with the barman
Talking of barman, there was only one during the time I was there..
As is standard for Club Lounges and many non-premium US lounges. Only selected “standard” drinks are complementary.
Any top shelf alcohol is chargeable.
If you go around the lounge past the bar, you will find a more quite room with leather seats..
And some more relaxed lounger seats with several pieces of local artwork..
There are also some retro United 727 blown up photos on display, and some benches which didn’t make any sense..
Carry on further past that, there are some private work room if you need to work with some sound privacy..
There are also some more open work areas..
Food + Drinks at United Club New Orleans
When you want to grab a quick bite to eat, there is a self service buffet station with mostly snacks and salads but a couple of hot dishes that varies from the time of the day..
You will find a good combination of mini wraps and sandwiches with good fresh ingredients..
And some little naughty treats with mini cakes and chocolates
During my lunchtime visit, there were some hot grilled veg
and a hot pasta and chicken dish..
There is also a coffee machine where you can make your coffee of choice or enjoy a variety of teas instead.
You also have a limited selection of cold soda or flavoured water dispenser..
Final Thoughts
This is a decent lounge to grab some lunch and relax with some drinks or do some work if you need to.
It is a world away from the crazy atmosphere of many other United Club lounges around the network. The vibes here are quite similar to United Club Lounge In San Francisco though hub lounges like United Club LAX seem to have more extensive food choices.
United seems to have quite spaced out flights out of New Orleans, which may explain the very manageable crowd.
The one thing that always throws me off with these types of lounges is the idea of charging guests for drinks at the bar and how limited their complimentary drink choices can be. Here they had a good range from a wine/beer and a couple of spirits and the barman was more than happy to improvise and whip you up a cocktail !
