Incredible Hospitality: TAJ Hotel Cape Town
TAJ hotel Cape Town is part of the TAJ Hotels group, an upmarket Indian brand with focal presence in many parts of Asia/Middle East and Africa.
Cape Town and the wine regions around, affectionately referred to as the Mother city is one of my most favourite cities in the world, which is why I’ve come back many times! I’ve stayed in various hotels and villas here. On this occasion, I decided to stay at a hotel brand that I had never stayed in before.
I decided to try out their standard room and one of their most exclusive: 2000 plus square feet Presidential Suite, that I will save for later!
Arrival, Location & Check In
We arrived on a sunny afternoon with some low clouds giving this beautiful backdrop just outside the hotel..
This hotel is very conveniently located right next to Iziko South African Museum and District Six Museum. It is close to the V&A Waterfront and adjacent to fashionable Bo-kaap area. I was already in SA and my friend drove us to the hotel in the afternoon.
They offer their own chauffeurs & concierge too. Just as we pulled in, we were greeted at the curb by their own footmen, ready to assist with luggage (no need when I travel so light!)
Unfortunately, I do not take proper still pics of the lobby/welcome area, with marble columns and original chandeliers adding such an elegant and classy vibe.
The whole building is a juxtaposition of old and new, with what used to be a Bank now extended with a modern tower.
There is a large Piano at the centre of this lobby meet lounge room with a restaurant on the other side
TAJ Hotel Cape Town Superior Room
The room is fairly standard size and was on the Heritage side of the building, with ornate furnishings all over, depicting a fusion of Indian and South African culture..
There was a small Juliet style balcony
and then all the usual elements like side consoles, well appointed closet with extra bathrobes, slippers and laundry bag etc. The mini fridge was not so mini at all..
Then there is also a good solid desk area with a lamp
I really liked the vibe of the room as with the rest of the hotel, carrying on a traditional feel while still being modern at the same time!
TAJ Hotel Cape Town Bathroom
The bathroom was on the large side considering the room itself..
lovely marble tiles added the sense of a rich heritage finish but still felt very modern
There was a very large rain shower cubicle too!
The bathroom was more or less perfect, with everything was just immaculate and spotless!
TAJ Hotel Cape Town Facilities
The hotel has the Jiva Spa and Fitness centre, which I did not use on this occasion. From what I can see, it caters too everything you might expect from a 5* establishment however!
TAJ Hotel Cape Town Food & Beverage
The standard rooms come with breakfast included, as far as I could tell. This was served in a specific breakfast area on ground floor..
Impressively, the breakfast was a la carte, so you could have what ever you want to order.. with the usual fruits, pastries and cheeses on top..
The breakfast offering is just on point. A great way to get your day doing.
We also decided to dine in at the Bombay Brasserie that is part of the Hotel itself and that was a amazing experience, quite a romantic experience in the lobby with the piano being played!
All the food at the Bombay Brasserie were excellent and would recommend coming here just in its own right!
The Lobby lounge is also a good place for an evening cocktail before heading out.

TAJ Hotel Cape Town Overall Thoughts
This is a brilliant hotel situated bang in the centre of Cape Town and all this amazing city has to offer. The level of hospitality on display felt so attentive and personalised, few other brands can match it. You can see my Cape Town Radisson Blu stay review here
All the staff were so gracious and friendly. Big shout out to Jason one of the footman who looked after us and always around to help us plan our day/activities. It felt like a home away from a home.
And just to tease you, here is just one view from the terrace of the Presidential Suite right on top..
