Copthorne Hotel Dubai, A Surprise Suite Upgrade
Welcome to yet another Dubai hotel review!
I’ve honestly lost count of how many times I’ve passed through Dubai at this point, this trip was just another quick stopover. I wasn’t looking for anything fancy this time, just somewhere decent, comfortable, and close enough to the airport.
I booked the Copthorne Hotel Dubai mainly because it ticked those boxes and looked good value for money.
What I didn’t expect was to end up in a two-bedroom “Royal Suite”, a space more than double the size of my central London apartment!
Check-In Experience

I arrived late in the evening and was greeted with a genuinely warm welcome at reception.

I was seated, offered a refreshment, and within minutes informed that my booked room type — a standard Superior Room — was full.
To my surprise, the receptionist smiled and said they’d be upgrading me “to a better room instead.” I didn’t think much of it until I noticed my key card read “Suite.”

You can imagine my excitement..
The Suite
The door plate read Royal Suite, which for better or worse does set certain expectations..

but interestingly, I couldn’t find this category listed on the hotel’s website — the closest match seems to be the Executive Deluxe Suite (see listing here).

Stepping inside felt more like walking into a full apartment than a hotel suite. The entryway alone was about the size of a standard hotel room.

To the left, an open-plan living, dining, and kitchen area stretched out, complete with a third toilet and shower nearby — ideal for families or longer stays.

To get a sense of scale, this kitchen over 6 meters in length, larger than most family homes with an island that is more a regular size of kitchen.
It was fully stocked with Chinaware and all essentials for a family to cook in..

There was a microwave, induction hob, a separate oven, dishwasher and a washer/dryer..

The Bedrooms
The bedrooms are all in the left.
The second bedroom featured two single beds (though the hotel can provide doubles upon request), opposite a large shared bathroom.

This room has a large closet, desk and TV and it’s own phones
At the far end sat the main bedroom,

with its own spacious dressing area, private bathroom, and a balcony overlooking the pool and Deira city skyline — a lovely touch for morning coffee or a quiet evening view.

The bathroom was little depressing to look at, almost clinical.
There was also a huge bathroom between the two rooms on other side of the hallway..

All the closets had unending amounts of draws and storage space for you belongings. Safes were also available in each room..

The overall style? Classic Copthorne — slightly dated décor, especially in the bathrooms, which seem untouched for a couple of decades.
Still, everything was spotlessly clean and well maintained, and the generous space more than made up for the older design.
Hotel Facilities
I didn’t plan to use much of the hotel’s amenities, but I was pleasantly surprised by how comprehensive the offering was.
Pool
There is a decent size pool with daybeds scattered around..

Gym & Spa

Located on the second floor, the gym is well-sized and equipped with everything you’d need to keep up a workout routine.

Next door, the spa offers massages and beauty treatments

Plus guests have access to a small sauna (which seemed quiet — I only saw one person leaving when I peeked in).

It would comfortably fit around four people.
Elsewhere, the hotel does seem to have additional lobby areas for socialising including this space here on second floor

Breakfast
I added breakfast to my booking for convenience, though I half-expected to sleep through it.

Thankfully, I woke just before the 10 a.m. and made it down before the 10.30am cutoff. As far as hotel breakfast rooms go, it was all rather elegant here..

You would almost think this was an entirely different hotel you are staying at!

As it was the final half hour, the dining room emptied out quickly — perfect timing to explore the spread before it was cleared away.

The buffet offered a wide variety: fresh fruits and pastries, juices, a full English option, continental dishes, and even an Indian breakfast selection..

I requested an Omelette from the live cooking area, which was made exactly how i’d wanted it..

and this was my full breakfast selection

I was certainly set for the day from that!
In all an impressive range of breakfast items for a mid-tier property!
Overall Thoughts
Though my stay was short, it was a memorable one. The Copthorne Hotel Dubai turned out to be far better value than expected, especially for families or travellers wanting more space and kitchen facilities near the Dubai Creek and Deira area, a convenient spot for exploring the old souks and traditional side of the city.
At just £82 p/n for my booking, I received an upgrade to a suite listed at over £300 per night, a fantastic bonus. Even though I had no real need for it!
Copthorne isn’t a luxury brand, but it delivers comfortable, spacious accommodation, great value, and warm service — exactly what you want for a short stay or stopover in Dubai.
