Upscale Hyatt Regency Malta
I have generally been a fan of Hyatt properties, though I believe the upper tier Park Hyatt’s are way way overrated for what they are. I have stayed in many Hyatt’s across the world, and generally find they offer good value in middle of the range luxury properties.
Sometimes the deco can be very bland, however this was not the case at all in this new Hyatt Regency Malta, which only opened it’s doors in 2021. This Malta location has a more boutique feel than any other Hyatt Regency I’ve experienced.
Hyatt Regency Malta Arrival & Check-In
Compared to other hotel chains Hyatt has been ahead of the curve in mobile check-in from their app. So I did exactly that the day before while still on the move.
What I like about their app is you can quickly see any add-on or spa reservations etc including all your room charges at a quick glance and even how many points you will earn on the stay.
The property is located in St Julian’s, a 20 minute ride from the airport. The nearest beach, St George’s Bay is literally 2 minutes from the property. The Corinthia is also right opposite, which I also considered staying at but I found their rooms to be very dated.
There is a large enclosed pavement separating the hotel building, so the taxi will drop you off in the street opposite. There was several staff available at hand to help you with luggage should you need it!
I quickly proceeded to reception to verify ID and get my rooms cards.
The staff were also kind enough to provide a quick orientation but also suggested I come down and ask them for anything I need.
Hyatt Regency Malta Standard Room
I booked the standard room type for this 4 night stay, but there are still some slight variations in the room type. Unfortunately during summer/autumn months, they are very busy, so I only had a room on the first floor
and I walked into a beautifully decorated room, that looked much better than the pictures I’ve seen..
There is a large king size bed in the middle, a small 2 person sofa corner
and a large 65″ 4K Samsung TV..
then there was a dark wood panelled desk surrounded by very chic looking lamps..
Just by the entrance door you have the open closed area to store your luggage and hand cloths. There were a few closed draws and safe too..
the room itself was a somewhat odd triangular shape that starts narrow and opens up as you walk in..
and there is a small balcony with a couple of chairs and small table. The room I had just overlooked the entrance area, but the design of the building meant it was still rather peaceful away from any road traffic..
I absolute loved the lighting and deco of the room, right down to the large colourful rug.. it all flowed very elegantly. And the bedding itself was luxurious..
Hyatt Regency Malta Bathroom
The elegant deco and luxurious touches continues in a very spacious bathroom..
there shower and bathroom is large enough for 2 people to use it simultaneously, with various hanging and panel LED downlighters
Now I must admit, one of the things that draws me to Hyatt is the lovely Pharmacopia products range they offer. You can buy them as well now! They are all naturally vegan just love the smell of them.
Hyatt Regency Malta Spa & Pools
The showpiece amenity of the hotel most certainly is the gorgeous oval shaped rooftop pool affording stunning views across the island
There are various seating pods around the pool too
Then there are various open sun loungers and closed cabanas relaxing areas when you need some shade
With the absence of any Club lounges, I found the rooftop a nice place to hang out for drinks and refreshments, and they were all reasonably priced.
then there is also another lovely pool in the basement spa area
Hyatt Regency Malta Restaurant
There are various restaurants in the property, with the Seed in the ground floor providing decent breakfast. But the restaurant upstairs is also a venue in it’s own right offering fantastic delicious food from well regarded chefs.
There are some terrace tables which has nice views on the other side of the Island and some beautiful sunsets on the evenings I managed to check it out..
Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures of the breakfast I had there one day, but took some of a light dinner one evening before I was heading out..
Hyatt Regency Malta Gym
The hotel has a decent sized and well equipped gym
I only used it once, and I was the only one in there!

Hyatt Regency Malta Overall Thoughts
This is a lovely property in a nice location close to good nightlife and beaches. If you want to be away from Valletta. I had a very comfortable stay.
The rooms had everything you could need. All the staff I interacted with there all very professional and friendly and it felt far more personalised here than what you would expect from a global hotel chain.
I would happily stay here again.
