Upgraded: Admirals Club LaGuardia Review
Now Admirals Club’s are not generally lounges that you get excited about. They serve their purpose as far as a mass market type of lounge experience goes. But in some cases, you do not have alot of other options in any case. And New York’s La Guardia airport would be one such instance.
I recently flew out from this airport for the very first time flying American on a domestic hop. I came in with low expectations and left feeling rather impressed!
Access & Location
This Admirals Club is in Concourse A of Terminal B and is located near gates 30-31.
As you follow the signs, you will get a set of stairs up to reach it..
Access is more broad compared to Flagship Lounges and is open to oneworld && AAdvantage elite status holders, domestic First and Business Class travellers as well as memberships holders. Membership prices vary also with your level of status. See more here.
As you enter, you will need to check yourself in via the reception staff or a couple of kiosks.
I found the staff and reception itself welcoming.
Admirals Club LaGuardia Spaces
The lounge itself has been recently renovated on an expanded footprint..
The design is modern and you might even say quite stylish with red and mustard coloured leather chairs complementing the wood panelling of the walls and space dividers..
The carpets and other seating areas have earthy tones, again with sleek black renders creating a good visual contrast
You have a rather generously sized bar area…
While there were good number of travellers in the lounge, due to the sheer size of the space it never felt busy. Which is perhaps unusual for a lounge of Admirals Club’s general calibre !
There are several areas where you can choose to work if that is how you spend your time here, from these individual booths..
To more informal and open setup here..
My favourite area was definitely below..
Mainly for the views, but also in this area, hardly many people ventured this far in!
Different seating areas continue in the middle parts of lounge with more chairs and sofas around coffee tables..
There are also some more relaxing areas with a little more privacy should you desire that..
Now these are some rather thin curtains here ( perhaps intentional? ) it’s still nice to have a space you can relax in which obscures at least some of the light..
If you don’t manage to get a spot here there are still some spots that can feel very relaxed and semi secluded..
Admirals Club LaGuardia Catering
Now, this is one area where you certainly need to manage expectations. The catering here is more on par with all other Admirals Clubs, with a limited hot option on offer which feels more like a snack spread
Besides a tomato ravioli, I could not see any other hot options at all or any food really besides what I would call nibbles. But they did advertise paid food options that you can purchase!
If you did choose to eat here, they have some nice eating tables are well
Overall Thoughts
I was genuinely impressed with this Admiral’s Club! In my 2 hour visit, I spent rather enjoying myself and able to relax with a few drinks. I was not particularly hungry and knew the catering was not quite designed for full meals here so came after a having had a full breakfast in the city and a nice meal on the plane had lunch sorted.
If La Guardia is an option for future flights, I would most happily come back here!
