British Airways Lounge Reception at Gatwick

British Airways Club Lounge Gatwick

British Airways Club Lounge Gatwick is one of 20 dedicated BA lounges across their network. I generally avoid flying out from Gatwick airport if I have a choice. As an Avgeek it is simply a far less exciting airport than Heathrow where all the hot and exotic action is going on.

Nonetheless Gatwick is major London airport. In fact, it’s the busiest single runaway airport in the world handling over 46 million passengers at peak of it’s capacity! British Airways maintains a secondary hub here operating from the South Terminal, with a combination of short-haul and long-haul flights.

Location & Access Requirements

Tip, right after Fast track security the shortcut to get to the lounge would be through the first set of doors on the immediate left, rather than going down the stairs as everyone tends to do in a herd like manner. The stairs down route would take much longer to locate the lounge !

Follow the signs for various lounges and the Club & First Lounge is on the upper mezzanine level

The lounge is open daily between 5am-8.30pm daily

Timings can vary due to flight scheduling for specific seasons so do check on Oneworld Lounge site

Lounge Eligibility

Entry requirements are the same across all BA Business lounges, entry is granted if you are either:

  • Flying on a scheduled British Airways flight in First, Club World or Club Europe.
  • A Silver or Gold Member of the British Airways Executive Club on a scheduled flight operated by British Airways or one of our oneworld partners.
  • A Sapphire or Emerald member of any of the oneworld airline frequent flyer programmes on a scheduled flight operated by British Airways or one of our oneworld partners.

Sapphire/Emerald members may also invite a guest along with them.

Through the sliding doors you will step into what is a stylish reception area with the same deco scheme as British Airway’s Singapore Lounge, this design scheme is a few years old but still looks good and modern..

Then you turn right into the lounge spaces, first going through this room

It’s a smart, slightly muted deco and I like the wine display stands that double up as zone dividers..

Further in, there are more seating areas with natural light

There are a good variety of sofa and lounger chairs to spend your time in..

It is not an especially large lounge but the layout makes good use of the space and provides a decent number of seating areas including this..

The thing that struck me both times I’ve used this is the relaxed vibes here. Even though they seemed to have adequate around to clear up and replenish supplies, the noise decibels here are significantly lower than the lounges in Heathrow.

In the world of British Airways Business offering, this is welcome.

Club Lounge Gatwick Food & Drink

When it comes to catering, BA has kept things consistent here. You will find several refreshment areas to fix yourself up with a drink..

The choice of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are as extensive as bigger lounges.

There are also varied seating choices when you want to eat at a proper table with the booths being great options for families and groups of friends..

On this instance for a morning departure, there were a good selection of fruits and yogurts..

Breakfast here is nothing exciting but it does the job of filling you up in the morning!

It’s hard to mess up with things like fruits, hash browns and baked beans. I find the scrambled eggs are always good, but it would be good to see BA offer more alternatives to people do do not eat pork !

Elsewhere, for the little travellers with you, there is a dedicated kids play room

as well as a specific room dedicated to those that need to work. As you can see though, there was not a soul in there !

British Airways Lounge Gatwick Work Areas

British Airways Lounge Gatwick Work AreasGatwick airport mostly caters to leisure focused flights, but British Airways do fly to key cities like New York from here.

And then off course there are some decent restroom and showers available.

It is also kitted out with the same Elmis amenities as with other BA Lounges.

I found there were plenty of spots to just relax and watch the traffic outside the window..

Finally, there is also a First Class section to this lounge, that I will cover when I next get to use it properly.

Overall Thoughts

I found this a very pleasant lounge and a far cry from the zoo fest experience you will certainly have in Heathrow Galleries North or South Lounges ! The place just had a far better ambience and calmness about it. Though maybe I just got lucky with both times I’ve visited?

This lounge surely has made me more lukewarm to the thought of flying out of Gatwick with either BA itself or Qatar in the future.
