Worth The Trek: Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge Heathrow
Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge Heathrow is a splendid lounge to relax away from the airport hustle and bustle, which left me rather miffed why I had never considered using it before.
Heathrow Terminal 2 is dedicated to Star Alliance carriers and is the newest Terminal at Heathrow. I’d frequently used the Lufthansa Lounge there or the United Club. The Lufthansa lounge while decent is also used by Aegean, Swiss customers and can get very busy.
Location & Access
The lounge is located in Zone B or otherwise called Terminal 2B, between B46 & B48 on level 1. Right after security you are in Zone A where Lufthansa Lounge is located immediately after it.
You have to walk roughly 15 minutes or so to get to it. And this requires a rather annoying amount of going back and forth and up and down some levels!
Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge Heathrow opening hours are 6am to 17.30pm.
Passengers travelling Air Canada Business Class or Star Alliance Business Class on the day are eligible for entry. You can bring a guest with you so long as they are flying a Star carrier on the day too, the charge for your guest is £59.
Star Alliance Gold members and Altitude Super Elite/Maple Leaf Club Members/Aeroplan 50k upwards are also eligible to use the lounge. However, note guests will be charged as above! Charges may vary so do check for your specific location.
Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge Heathrow
There is a small reception where you are checked in through..
On the right you have the large open plan room with views out of the airfield
Considering this lounge was opened back in 2014 the whole space still looks fresh and elegant. The grey leather seats are reasonably deep and comfy
Most seat options have a side console with power sockets well placed. On the top end you have some semi private rooms with reclining loungers.
Each provides your own screen if you wanted to play some games or hook up your own entertainment..
Lower End of Lounge
At the bottom end of the lounge you the seating area narrows so it feels more private there if the lounge was busy
You also have a little business centre/work area here..
and the far end of this you have some magazine racks with some high stool seating around the outside of the business centre circumference
Food & Beverage At Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge Heathrow
On the left of the lounge after you pass reception you have the dining/buffet area..
My visit was at 9am for a late morning flight thus the catering focus was breakfast..
Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge Breakfast Buffet
As is typical for most business lounges various breakfast options were available for you to choose from. With fresh fruits & yogurts, cold cut meats and cheeses..
To various hot options, so you can essentially make your own full English..
Oddly there were also some sandwiches put out along with pastries !
There are only 3 tables dedicated to eating but you can also eat out in the centre table here which seats 8.
The breakfast was rather decent, with the hash browns still nice and crispy and scrambled eggs being rather perfectly done rather than a soggy oily mush you see in some places!
Last but not least, they also have a fresh, made to order waffle station!
You can get your waffle customised/dressed however you liked. It’s a nice touch that certainly separates your average run of the mill Priority Pass lounges.
Last but not least, you also have a staffed bar here..
Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge Heathrow Showers & Restroom
They have several private shower rooms here which you can book via one of the attendants available or from receptions. I didn’t have time to check it out but the restroom itself was well appointed..
Overall Thoughts
I am glad I decided to make the trek to this lounge. It is perhaps due to this that not many travellers use it. In my 2 hours here, there was at most 12-15 passengers I could see. That made the place just that much more pleasant and relaxing. The signature Maple Leaf deco is stylish and elegant, which helps!
Just as I was about to leave an Air Canada flight just landed and parked right out the lounge..
I thought the catering even though it was just breakfast was good and perhaps the best out of the other Star Alliance lounges in Terminal 2. I would certainly visit this lounge again on my next Star flight out of Heathrow!
