Huge Sheraton Grand Istanbul Atasehir Deluxe King
Sheraton Grand Istanbul Atasehir was a just a short 3 night Istanbul stay, and I wanted to stay on the Asian side of the city on that occasion. I looked at the few hotel options and liked the look of this place and it was convenient for where I needed to be. Also it was a while since I last stayed in a Sheraton (Stockholm 2014!) so keen to see what they were like now.
I booked this only a few weeks out so the rates were unfortunately as cheap as they can be, but at least with Marriot Gold, I got upgraded from the Superior King for free. This room is about 100 square foot bigger than standard King room and also on the higher floors..
Sheraton Grand Istanbul Atasehir Check-in
I arrived early evening, and my bags were picked up from the taxi and I was taken to the check-in area.
The lobby was calm and and inviting and check-in was smooth. The smart, well spoken gentlemen handed me my room keys within a couple of minutes. I was given an option to add on breakfast, but I wanted to keep my plans flexible so decided not too.
Sheraton Grand Istanbul Atasehir Deluxe King
At 377 this is a quite a spacious room, as you walk in you have a large wardrobe closet on the right and then shower room to the left..
The bed is rather large, which would be equivalent of two single beds put together. It was a very plush bed with high thread count bedding and fluffy down pillows.
The room has a decent living area, with a good sized two seater sofa by the window
And there was a smart desk with leather swivel chair to the other side..
There were some fantastic city views from this room looking well out into the Bosphorus..
Sheraton Grand Istanbul Atasehir Bathroom
The well appointed bathrooms had all the little luxuries, which towel gowns, slippers and all the toiletries in miniature you’d need..
It was rather odd for this room size that there was no bathtubs. But that was not an issue for me at all, since I rarely ever have a bath!
Sheraton Grand Istanbul Atasehir Food & Beverage
Room service was top notch, I ordered a burger for dinner one night and when they came in with it, they setup the desk with nice trays and chinaware. I forgot to take a picture of it.
I also did try breakfast on the final morning, which was ok. Unfortunately it was quite pricey, and you have much better options around, but that is hotels for you!
Overall Thoughts
This is a very decent option if you need or fancy staying in the Asian side of Istanbul. They do occasionally have very competitive rates too, which makes it more compelling. Since this is the business side of the city, rates are the highest on Monday – Thursday!
I appreciated the upgrade, it was a big difference over standard room and thus when you eat in the room there is plenty of space around it doesn’t ever feel cluttered. Remember you have to book with hotel/Marriot directly to enjoy any status benefits!
If this is your first time in Istanbul however, you maybe better of staying in the European side, somewhere like Taksim which is at the heart of the hustle and bustle of the touristy side of things.
