Fukuoka Business Class Lounge (Singapore Airlines)
Fukuoka was the last stop in my Japan trip and I was flying back via Singapore Airlines’s new 787-10 Business class. Fukuoka is not a big airport as far as international flights are concerned. It is however the 4th busiest airport in Japan overall given level of domestic flights.
Business passengers were invited to use the Fukuoka Business Class lounge. I did not have much time before the flight, just enough time to have breakfast and check out the facilities.
Lounge location & Access
There was a distinct lack of signage or clear directions to the lounge, which meant I spent a good 20 minutes wandering around.
When I eventually found it (near gate 55) international departures, the entrance itself was distinguishable with the rest of the terminal design.
At the check-in there were 3 well dressed receptionists who were having a nice little chat, that I interrupted, as one of them checked me through.
Access is granted to numerous contracted airlines (Eva, Cathay, China Airlines, Cathay Pacific down to ANA, Asiana etc) and their Business Class passengers only. As far as I can tell there was no Priority Pass access.
There is however a paid for lounge next door near gate 56 which may accept lounge schemes.
The reception area felt a little more welcoming.. it was kind of cute that they had some low stool type seats in the reception should you have impatient kids or something ?
Lounge Layout
This is a relatively small lounge with capacity for 161 guests.
It was rather busy and thus I was mindful not to take pictures of the seating areas so as not to impede on anyone’s privacy.
The furniture and facilities were pretty standard here with single armchair type sofas arranged in varying groupings. Nothing to write home about in particular but they did have a small dedicated work area too.
Food & Drinks
I woke up at 6:30 and headed straight to the airport for the 10am flight, after a shower in the hotel. By 8am when I was still checking in, was ready for breakfast! So went straight for the food buffet.
It was a slightly strange mix of options for breakfast, not sure how many people would fancy a beef curry at 8am? Oh well
Eggs (of any kind) are what I like to start the day with so picked the Omelette with a mix of Japanese noodles with meatballs and some orange juice. It was bad. The each and everything. The juice was not fresh. I ate half of what was on my plate, as I always feel guilty wasting food.
I then had a coffee, which was fine with a croissant that was not fresh either.
There was a shower however.
Overall thoughts
As far as business class lounges go, this is something more in line with a Priority pass lounge. Its ok, but just.
If you have a morning flight, I would recommend having breakfast in the hotel before (my 10am Singapore flight, did not do breakfast, but rather a lunch service which began just before 12pm), and maybe just showering/working here.
