Singapore Airlines SilverKris Business Class Lounge T2
This review focuses on the offering by SQ’s SilverKris Business Class Lounge T2 specifically. Singapore Airlines has a stellar reputation as offering one of the best Business class product and experiences out there. How does their lounges fare?
In previous trips I’ve had very quick connections in Singapore, with little time to check out the lounge. This year I was determined to spend a sufficient amount of time in Singapore’s SilverKris Business class lounges in its home turf to be able to review them..
SilverKris Business Class Lounge T2 Access
Business Class lounge access is generally available to Business Class passengers and Krisflyer Elite Gold, PPS Club and Star Alliance Gold lounges when flying on a Star Alliance carrier. In Singapore Changi airport however, Star Alliance Gold members have access to the KrisFlyer Gold that is separate to the main Business Lounges.
This lounge was located level 2 near E gates, just past the KrisFlyer Gold lounge.
The lounge is open 24 hours.
Time of use
I had arrived on a flight from Japan, which landed at 3pm, 20 minutes ahead of schedule, thus I had over 3 hours before my next flight. This gave me adequate time to check out the facilities and catch up on news etc.
The lounge was fairly busy in the duration, probably at about 60% capacity most of that time.
SilverKris Business Class Lounge T2 Layout
You enter through a large entrance area, with several receptionists awaiting to greet and check you in..
then turn left by the reception into the main space. The lounge was a reasonably large with a semi open layout. You have drinks and refreshments stations right in front.
There is a small seating area just by the entrance on the left (behind this picture). The main seating area, though open-plan is zoned into various sections..
Some of the central areas of the lounge have no natural lighting at all..
You will find rows of either black leather seats or grey fabric seats. Both are types are well padded and comfortable with access to side consoles and a lamp nearby
Most seat types are individual but you will find the occasional sofa here and there should you be a family or couple that want to sit closer together
You can enjoy and make use of a number of facilities on offer here from more private phone booths, right at the back of this picture above, magazine and newspaper racks, quick refreshment stations scattered all over.
One unique and very useful feature is they offer garment presses! Should you have a creased up shirt or blazer/jacket that you need sorting out..
There is a dedicated work area also…
I thought the work space here almost looked and felt almost too “officey” here, but perhaps that was the design intention?
SilverKris Business Class Lounge T2 Catering
Food and beverage is one area where I believe Singapore Airline lounges mostly excel. The entire left side of the lounge (from reception entrance inwards ) is a dedicated as food/drinks area.
A fairly extensive choice of food is available in the buffet. They have various vegetarian and meat based Indian curries…
Pumpkin and other types of soups..
Through to plain noodles that you can then dress up as and how you please !
It’s great that you can customise some of these options with exactly the condiments/sauces you want! So you can go anything from mild to spicy and everything in-between.
You will also find plenty of non-Asian food options..
And as if those were not enough, there are in-house chefs cooking up fresh dishes right there…
Each day, you will have a selection of fresh dish options that are chef made to order right in front of you 🙂
Last but not least you have various salads/cheeses and dessert options to satisfy all your sweet tooths!
SilverKris Business Class Lounge T2 Showers
If after all the food (or the flying) you need a freshen up, that’s catered for you too!
The lounge has several shower rooms inside the main restroom that are manned and you have to request a shower room from an attendant..
You will be suppled with towels and any essentials you need. Amenity or design wise these are fairly standard shower facilities but its functional.
Overall thoughts
This SilverKris Business class lounge is very pleasant, with a good mix of business and leisure travellers passing through. It is not the most modern looking lounge out there.
I was very impressed with the range and quality of the food on offer, far more extensive than even, Qatar’s Al Mourjan Business lounge. I sampled quite a few of the dishes and they were excellent, definitely a step up from what I had in the air with Singapore Airlines.
I did not have any strong drinks, so can’t say anything of that this time. From the looks of it they have a fair few options, though I’m sure a bar with service would be ace makes for enhanced social experience, in addition to drinks service at the table already offered.
I personally prefer spending time in lounges with some good views but if you have a layover, it is certainly worth coming here just for the food alone! For Singapore worldwide network of lounges see here.
