A Very Nordic Finnair Business Class lounge – Helsinki
Sometimes airline lounges can be a place to enjoy a pre-flight/inbetween flight meal, relax, do some work etc. Well the Finnair business class lounge in their Helsinki hub does that and much more!
I’ve used these lounges on several occasions, each time with about 2-3 hour spend it in. I really like the deco and layout of the lounge. The soft modern furnishings and lighting sets a relaxing mood. At times it does get very very busy.
Finniar Business Class Lounge Food & Drink
There was a fairly standard array of food options from light snacks, fruits, to more substantial choices. I have to say nothing I tried was out of the ordinary, and hence the lack of pictures.
The range of cold and hot drinks offered was also extensive. This is a very self service style of lounge though, as most business class lounges are.
Sit back, relax, work
The lounge has quite a few different zones work, socialise or relax while you wait for you flight.
Catch up on Sleep
Need to catch some sleep or a wee nap? There’s sleeping pods for that! This comes within a dedicated quite relaxation area, complete with blankets, shades, and coat hangers with somewhere to hang up your coat.
Saving the best for last…
Showers, Spa & Sauna
Yes, a sauna! How awesome is that? How Finnish too! You would expect a decent lounge to have shower facilities but this one sure makes the Finnair Helsinki lounge fairly unique!
The sauna has capacity for 6 people, but in this case I had it all to myself! Once you are done, there are quite a few private shower rooms, all fully stocked and equipped.
Overall thoughts
As far as business class lounges go, this ticks all the boxes. The sauna is certainly a welcome facility to enjoy after or before a long flight. The food availability can be hit and miss, probably at times with high headcounts! Unfortunately the lounge is not open 24 hours. On a flight back from Hong Kong I had to wait for about 40 minutes before it opened.
Even though Finnair does not have First Class service, they have a more premium lounge offering at the Platinum Wing Lounge. It is accessible to Platinum Members of their own program as well as OneWorld Emeralds.
