A few months back I had a long weekend trip to Venice with BA. For the return I was not expecting much in terms of lounges and thus did not arrive at airport until 90 minutes or so before my flight back to London.
While I knew Marco Polo was not an especially large airport, I was surprised to discover this Marco Polo Lounge is the only lounge currently available at Venice airport! I was half expecting to be turned away for lack of capacity! How so is it?
After security and immigration, you will see signs for the lounge which is located on second floor, accessible either via a lift or escalator at the other end.
This lounge is open from 5am till 10pm daily.
Given it’s status as the one & only lounge in the whole airport, practically every full service airline uses this lounge. And not just that, the lounge is also in the Priority Pass network, so you can use your Priority Pass card or simply pay to enter also.
While I used my British Airways status for entry, I did not see anyone being turned away and was checked through in a couple of minutes.
As you enter, one of the first thing you see is this booth like seating right against the wall on the left..
From afar you might be mistaken for thinking they might be kids play area or something but no, they are fully equipped adult size booths where you can sit and work or eat in peace perhaps..
Then on the right, you have this semi circular shaped room with chairs lining the circumference of it.. the wall detailing and chandelier gives it a nice classy touch..
The main room flows out in front with an assortment of seating options..
There are some nice decorative zone dividers which breaks up the larger spaces nicely..
Then you have more private seating spaces in what looks like garden type furniture and a good dose of indoor plants!
And again on the back area of the room there was yet another circular seating zone with not a soul there..
There is also a Media Hub which presumably you can use to play some games here..
Going back to the main room, I found my perfect spot by the windows with my BA plane in sight!
I also loved these green leather chairs, they were super comfortable and you can swivel in just the direction you want and have some head privacy if you lean back to have a nap or something..
I had a lunchtime flight so was in the lounge just before midday, I had breakfast in my hotel so was not particularly hungry for lunch yet. I did check out the catering off-course!
There were a selection of fresh fruits and packages fruits and salads as well as some yogurts on one side.
Other side has some Italian style savoury snacks that were rather cheesy. But there was also a light aubergine veg mix, that was very delicious..
Finally there are some treats to satisfy any sweet tooth cravings!
There was some limited refreshment options as well as a Barista served coffee station.
I went into this lounge not expecting much and thinking it will be rammed to the brim but was instead pleasantly surprised by a pleasant expansive space which was probably only at 40% capacity. This helped the ambiance no doubt.
If you need a place to work before your flight or just a nice spot to sit and enjoy a coffee and some snacks with views out on the tarmac, this is a perfect place to do so! Equally it many little nooks and crannies for finding a little respite/private corner if you just need a dark space to relax too.
If it was dinner time, I would like to see a more substantial catering offering!
