Plaza Premium Lounge Rome T3

My experience with Plaza Premium lounges have been one that varies quite significantly across airports and countries. There is even a difference between ones that cater to Domestic departures to International.

This Plaza Premium Lounge Rome T3 is the Extra Schengen Area lounge of Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO), and claims to be inspired by Roman architecture. It does look to be a impressive space. What about the rest?

Access & Location

This Plaza Premium is located in Area E (Upper Level) of Terminal 3 Extra Schengen Departures. You can take the escalators to upper level, where you will directly pass the British Airways Lounge too.

The lounge is currently being used by American Airlines, Asiana, Air Serbia, China Southern, Etihad & Korean Air. Premium flyers of these carriers will have full access to all facilities.

Plaza Premium Lounge Rome T3 Layout

Passed the small reception area, the lounge is essentially one large open plan space..

which then houses various styles of spaces within this within a double height airy space. A huge curved arch runs along most of this space, under which you will find more cosy spaces as well as the self service food area, restrooms etc..

The focal feature of the lounge is the stylish round bar right in the centre of the whole space. So wherever you happen to be you can watch all the bar action..

Specific dietary requirements also catered for include: Vegetarian and
Gluten-free options. How these are catered for however was not clear. Do customers need to pre-order them? Or it’s just whatever was on offer at the hot buffet spread.

I fear, the later would be the answer. Which means, you may actually find your options limited. As there was not a whole lot of choice.

Lounge alos provides:

•Complimentary coffee and tea•Complimentary selection of house beer and house wine available
•Premium Drinks*

Overall Thoughts

This is certainly one of the more pleasant Plaza Premium Lounges out there. I’ve visited it several times and always found the ambience to be relaxed, even at peak times. Some like the Plaza Premium Heathrow T2 provide good facilities but can get very crowded.

I would however, not pay the on the door cash rate to enter it, as the catering and having to pay for a shower on top just does not justify the pricing levels.  There are several good eating options in Rome Airport.
