Elegant, Relaxing and Premium is how I would indeed sum up Qatar Airways Premium Lounge Bangkok !
Couple of months ago I was in Bangkok specifically to fly Qatar Airways First Class on their A380. Bangkok is always a nice city to revisit for a couple of days, especially for the food. On this day, I had a light breakfast and headed to airport to make full use of the lounge facilities prior to my flight!
This Qatar lounge only opened back in 2018 and was closed for a while like many others around the world until November last year. How would this compare to Qatar’s more vital Premium Lounge in Heathrow?
Lounge is located concourse D after security near D8. It was a beautiful afternoon turning into Golden hour by the time I reached the lounge..
Like other Premium lounges, access is strictly limited to those flying in First or Business on oneWorld carriers. Yes this means no access for status holders flying Economy!
The opening times are aligned with Qatar Airways departures too from 15.30pm until 02:30am.
On a bright sunny afternoon that lounge did not look all to prominent..
and going in had a strikingly familiar feel..
the lobby design and orchid placement is identical to that of Heathrow counterpart..
Super elegant..
After you end up in yet again a very recognisable room..
from there the different zone split off. You have the dedicated bar area on one side
Reasonably intimate partitioned seating areas overlooking the airport exteriors
There are two options here when it comes to dining. The informal buffet area has a good selection of hot and cold dishes to enjoy as you wish..
The usual selections of salads, cold meats and cheese can be found with a Thai twist here
The grilled chicken and marinated beef steaks look quite good ! As you can see it was quite busy in this area so I did take anymore pictures without feeling like I was getting in peoples way..
There is then a dining area overlooking the pretty manicured gardens of the airport..
This is the more formal dedicated dining area with waiter service where you are even ushered in to be seated..
I was genuinely surprised why more people were not using it !
As I was seated, I was immediately asked what I would like to drink first, for which there was an extensive selection but for some weird reason there was no menu on this day so I could not remember them !
I really liked the table setting here, it certainly felt like a posh restaurant
I started off with some Sushi and also a fish fillet for main..
the sushi arrived fairly promptly and was excellent !
After about 20 minutes the main arrived served with fresh vegetables and a side of pilau rice..
The fish fillet was ever so slightly over-cooked, but with the fish sauce was superb and took the edge of somewhat.
After that, I ordered a dessert which they pretty much made up on the fly as I fancied different things..
In all, it was a very satisfying lunch in a super pleasant environment.
After lunch, the main lounge was still fairly busy so I went to the bar to enjoy a drink.
About 45 minutes before boarding, I decided to have a quick shower to freshen up again..
The shower rooms are fully stocked with Diptique amenities that are also provided onboard..
This was is a superb lounge and seems to maintain the signature premium service Qatar is reputed for. In Bangkok airport this is one of the best oneWorld Lounges
By and large the design and space felt like Qatar’s other premium lounges which is great for consistency. Compared to the London Heathrow though, this did feel much more compact and busier, despite the very restricted entry.
