Couple of months ago, I finally got a change to check out British Airways lounge in Singapore. I once even flew British Airways back from Singapore and didn’t have the time to go to the lounge.
This lounge opened way back in 2015 and I remember seeing BA’s press release on it. I had heard good things about the food there from other travellers too, but in this instance I had already had a big lunch with friends before the airport so I could not “fully” enjoy the range of food.
British Airways fly from Terminal 1 in Changi airport. After clearing immigration, head towards gates B & C and you will see signs to the lounge. It is located on level 3, so its one floor up from departures.
It does however have limited opening hours, as you will find with plenty of other lounges in non-home airports. It is currently open from 4pm to 10pm daily aligning with BA’s departures to London and Sydney.
As is standard, all OneWorld First & Business Class passengers are eligible to use this lounge. Though other OneWorld carriers like Qatar/Qantas/Cathay all have their own lounges, they all operate from different terminals in Changi.
If you have Oneworld Emerald or Sapphire status you can also use the lounge regardless of travel class, so long as you are flying of the alliance carriers. These status holders can also bring in an additional Guest as long as they are also flying a Oneworld carrier.
As you enter through the reception you are greeted by a calming open space with the British Airways logo emblazed in a mosaic feature wall
As you walk past the reception the lounge splits off in 3 directions, right right for The Bar (First Class passengers only), left hand side for showers & restrooms and straight ahead you have the main lounge space..
There are various seating areas with comfortable leather sofas with individual lamps, small side table and power supplies.
The central area of the main room as refreshments and buffet food selections with some high stool and table setup
There are then other spaces which can are away from major food traffic should the lounge be at capacity..
On my visit just past 6,30pn in the evening, the hot food options consisted of 2 types of curries, veg and chicken, some noddle dishes, chicken satay (which was very nice!)
There were also various salad options as well as cheeses and desserts..
Unfortunately, I forgot to take actually pictures of the food even though the lounge was not very busy at all!
There were various soft drinks and juices available as well as a few wines and champagne but I did not drink anything.
The lounge also has a more formal dedicating eating area just by the side of the buffet station where travellers can eat together.
I mentioned earlier there was The BAR area which was previously named the Concorde Dining room I believe
This is almost a separate lounge within the lounge with seating for 40 odd guests but only accessible to departing First Class passengers..
This lounge seemed a world away from being in a British Airways lounge in Heathrow Terminal 5. It actually felt like a nice place to relax and spend some time as it was not too crowded.
While the design of the lounge itself is now 8 years it still looks decent and appears well maintained with a recent spruce up. I’m not a fan of the stark Red/Blue contrasts in the central seating area but most other spaces felt relaxing and had a good ambience.
I had a quick peak of the showers, and they were also very decent and much better than the London ones.
Unfortunately I was not hungry enough to sample many of the catering options but the chicken satay was definitely a hit, and as was the noodle dish I tried. The food definitely felt of a slightly better quality than found in BA’s Heathrow lounges also.
