WestJet are currently building their own dedicated lounge at this airport. My previous experience of an Aspire in Europe somewhere, did not impress. Thus, I wasn’t all that keen to spend too time here. The lounge surprised me on the day..
Calgary airport seems compact. Yet it still feel airy and spacious due to only a moderate number of passengers going through it. Least on that afternoon.
The lounge is not far past security with signs directing you to “Lounge”. It is just by the Chill’s food outlet. There are lifts to take you up at the end of that lobby.
Quite a few different airlines appear to be using this lounge…
If you have complementary invitation as part of your airline, you will justbe checked through in the reception. Alternatively, this lounge is accessible via the Priority Pass network. If you are not part of that program, you can pay on the door. They charge a very reasonable $49.99 Canadian dollars.
Aspire Lounge Spaces
Just past the reception, you are immediately inside the large open area overlooking the rest of the terminal.
At around 4pm in the afternoon, it was sparse. With plenty of seating options and types.
Aspire Lounge Calgary – Food & Drinks
The lounge provides buffet food, snacks and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. All self service.
The food selection and variety was fairly reasonable. Quality was very average. I tried the chilli, but it almost completely lacked any flavour or punch.
Quite / Nap rooms
The lounge has two nap rooms, which was unexpected.
The full length curtains provide almost full privacy. The close proximity to other seating areas means it may not always be a quite space.
The rooms have their own lighting controls as well as power sockets. I found the lounger quite comfortable to just relax in for half hour or so.
Lounge Showers
You will find two showers behind the reception as you come in. You have to request the access key from there, and they also provide you with fresh towels.
There was no wait, when I decided to shower about 5.30pm.
After I had a shower, I noticed the lounge became considerably more busier.
I decided to have a decaf coffee and just catch up on emails etc.
Overall Thoughts
This was a surprisingly pleasant lounge that provides a comfortable space to relax. Having the option to take a little nap is a bonus! Food & beverage is pretty much what you would expect for this type of lounge. I would definitely use this lounge again if I pass through Calgary.
